For the summer, I love either bright or pastel nail polishes. A nice bright and bold pink always looks nice with tanned skin. Plus pastel colors, like millennial pink, go with any outfit and for any occasion.
1. Essie Bachelorette Bash
This is a two coat, long lasting nail polish. Bachelorette Bash lasts one week on my nails. This has by far been my favorite to wear so far this summer. I also love this as a toe nail color. There seems to be bluish undertones, which really makes this color pop.
2. OPI Step Right Up
If you have a dark skin tone or a nice tan for the summer, this color will make your skin pop. This color, as I have found with most OPI colors, needs three coats to be opaque. This nail polish is a great neutral between white, beige and pink. The color picks up the different tones that occur naturally in the skin and intensifies it. It is also great for weddings or work. You don’t have to worry about changing your nail polish before a job interview with this color either! It goes with every outfit, which is why it is one of my favorites to wear during the summer.
3. OPI Sweet Memories
Like Step Right Up, this OPI color needs three coats to be truly opaque. This is the closest color to millennial pink. It is a muted pastel baby pink. Sometimes I’ll even layer Step Right Up over Sweet Memories for a color in between the two. I use this color if I am going for a more girly look. This color still looks great with tanned skin, but it definitely doesn’t stand out as much because it is so pastel like. However, this color brings together an outfit to look classy and elegant.
4. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sugar Fix
The final two colors are Sally Hansen Miracle Gel formula, but I use them with regular top and base coat nail polishes. They work great with normal base and top coat, so don’t feel like you need the Sally Hansen base and top coat for this formula. I use 3 coats to get the best color payoff with this polish. I like blue shades of nail polishes for the summer, but sometimes the neon or bright blues clash with an outfit or are inappropriate for work. This color is a pastel blue that is similar to a baby blue, but a shade darker. In addition, Sugar Fix is great for the summer on the beach or sitting by the pool side.
5. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Tea Party
Finally, this 3 coat pastel turquoise colors gives me tropical feels! This color just feels like summer. When I wear it I feel as if I should be lying on a beach with a drink in my hand. This color definitely has more of a blue undertone than a green one, but it is a nice color in between an aqua and a true turquoise. I wear this color when I have a really nice tan and it also looks great on the toe nails as well.
Those were my top 5 favorite nail polishes to wear during the summer, but my secret to a long lasting nail polish no matter the formula is a good top and bottom coat. I use Sally Hansen Treatment Complete 7 in 1 for my base coat and INM Out The Door Top Coatfor my top coat. Out The Door is a dupe for Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Nail Coat. Seche Vite is about $6-7 USD and Out The Door is about $2-4 USD. They work exactly the same. This top coat is like having a gel layer on your nails. It dries so fast so the nail polish never smudges and last forever. I like the base coat because it makes my nails grow long and stay strong. This combination is my favorite and I highly recommend it.
